About Ramadan Kareem

Ramadan Kareem helps Muslims around the world prepare for Ramadan: expected dates in every country, crescent sighting maps, the Hijri calendar and prayer times for more than 24,000 cities, in English, Arabic, French, Indonesian, Malay, Turkish, Urdu and Bengali.

Ramadan & Hijri months

The expected start of each Hijri month is computed from the new moon and the visibility of the crescent (Odeh 2006 criterion) and compared with the Umm al-Qura calendar. Dates are estimates until the official announcement.

Prayer times

Daily times come from the AlAdhan prayer times API and are cross-checked with our own astronomical calculation. Each country uses the method of its religious authority by default.

Data

City names and coordinates come from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0), Natural Earth and the countries-states-cities database.
